Polyester yarn comes in several forms, from plush chenille and velvet to loop yarn and macrame cord, used for blankets, soft toys and home decor. Many polyester yarns can be machine washed; follow the ball band.
HiMALAYA Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce and Wolans Bunny Baby are plush chenilles of similar thickness, each with 120 m (131 yd) per 100 g, and all three suit amigurumi and baby blankets. Alize Velluto, at 68 m (74 yd) per 100 g, is a thicker velvet that works up into a blanket faster.
Chenille can “worm,” with loops working out of the fabric, when stitches are loose, so a firmer tension often helps, as does a hook or needle a size smaller than you would use for a smooth yarn of the same thickness.
